Busy is Not Your Friend

Watch the video!

Busy is not your friend. It makes you feel overwhelmed, tired, and inadequate. If busy were a person would you spend all day with that person today, and then all day with that person again tomorrow? I don’t think so.

Busy is not your friend. They say judge a tree by its fruits. Well, the fruits of busy are overwhelmed, weary, tired, burned out, worn out, resentful, discouraged, anxious, and stressed. Which of these fruits do you want in your life?

When asked: “What one word would you use to describe how you feel on a daily basis?” millions of people say overwhelmed.

How often do you feel overwhelmed?

Do you feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything done?

Are you overwhelmed with things that really matter or things that won’t mean anything to anyone in a couple of weeks?

When we are overwhelmed with things we know don’t really matter, we become resentful. So, it’s not just that we are busy, but that we are busy with the wrong things.

We all know the feeling of exhaustion at the end of a day when you have worked hard on the right things. There is satisfaction in that tiredness.

But we also know the exhaustion that comes from doing lots of nothing important. This exhaustion is heavy and draining.

Busy leads to overwhelmed, overwhelmed leads to weary, weary leads to discouraged, and discouragement leads us to feel inadequate and resentful. Anyone or anything that makes you feel that way is too small for you.

Busy is not your friend. Keep that in mind next time you feel pressured to say yes to something you know you should say no to.
